About The Castlefield Viaduct:

The Castlefield Viaduct, located in Manchester, England, is a historic railway viaduct renowned for its elegant Victorian architecture and structural significance. Constructed in the mid-19th century as part of the Manchester, South Junction and Altrincham Railway, it spans the Castlefield area, connecting Manchester Piccadilly and Deansgate railway stations.

This Grade II listed structure comprises multiple arches supported by intricate cast iron columns and lattice girders, showcasing the engineering prowess of its time. Over the years, the viaduct has evolved from serving its original purpose to becoming an integral part of Manchester's urban landscape. Today, it stands as a symbol of the city's industrial heritage and resilience, having survived bombings during World War II and subsequent urban development.

Moreover, Castlefield Viaduct has been repurposed for pedestrian and cycle use, contributing to the revitalization of the surrounding area and offering visitors a glimpse into Manchester's rich history and architectural legacy.
